About Me

I have an extra dose of humor because I find a way to have fun in everything I do — even work!

My passion is helping people (and companies) move from where they are today to where they want to be tomorrow. Along the journey, I get a chance to help develop a comprehensive communications strategy to help achieve business goals and objectives. A life-long learner, I’m all about embracing change when necessary to get to the ultimate goal. My thought is — no use doing the same thing over and over to get the same miserable results, right?

I started my career as a radio disc jockey for a country western station in North Central Ohio. That was the beginning of a 15-year career that evolved from disc jockey to director of news and public affairs and culminated when Clear Channel purchased a group of radio stations in Orlando. Clear Channel later added Communications to it’s name and became a huge media conglomerate.

When Clear Channel door was shut another one opened at Tribune Company. I leaped over the threshold to become one of the first Interactive sales reps for BlackVoices.com at The Orlando Sentinel. I joined BV founder, Barry Cooper, and others to help define recruitment advertising as a viable revenue stream. My work led to a solid business plan that resulted in some serious cash to grow the Internet start-up within the walls of the Tribune’s Chicago headquarters.

Five years later, Black Voices was acquired by America Online and I decided to take my skill sets to the agency world. I joined J Walter Thompson as business development director and worked on brands like Abbott Laboratories, CDW, Fifth Third Bank, Limited BrandsVolkswagen of America and others.

I leveraged the agency experience into a new role as manager marketing communications at the American College of Healthcare Executives. I had a lot of fun disrupting the status quo by introducing new marketing intiatives — correction — cost saving marketing intiatives to help the non-profit organization promote programs, products and services to some 35,000 members.

After a year at ACHE, I took a leap of faith to join a good friend and colleague as managing director for Vocii, LLC, a unique brand consultancy that bridges the gap between human resources, marketing and communications to align employee behaviors with company strategies. The Vocii mission is to help companies engage employees and customers in conversations that help to build long-term trust in their organizational brand.

So that’s a little about me. Thanks for visiting TaylorYou. We’re going to have fun!
